A Journey to Freedom in Jesus Christ

Breaking Free from Sin’s Death

My name is YahASon (prior name was Lorne Jason Wettstein), and my life is a testament to God’s transformative power. Since my death in 2023, I have walked a path of redemption, I feel guided by Jesus in words and writing and in the Holy Spirit, and God’s boundless love. I became entirely alcohol-free,  and there is no drugs and these poisons will never be allowed in my life or around me in anyway. Alcohol is a devilish door and the Dark Spirits that sneak in with the alcohol abuse and use are many. I used to joke around that when I was sober I would say to people I would drink with the only way I could hang out with them is by being drunk because otherwise they were fools and morons and low in morals and dark is abuse. I was just to friendly with alcohol and would let anyone get close Satan sent in his demonic Soul’Diers.

I have been sin free since 2024 including alcohol, I stand entirely sin-free. When the attacks were many and the world turned on me I went in and found God. Every day with Gods love gave me strength and I knew I would one day look at all the pains as lessons learned and good loving and truthful gains. I can anytime go days without food, nor am I lazy. Envy has no hold on me; I rejoice in others’ blessings, even those I might wish for myself, with a heart full of love. Pride annoys me, I see the mockery of its fall and I am saddened with pride in others. I know my value is in being selfless and my efforts are humble and speak for themselves. My isolation and the attacks have felt targeted by a world influenced by Satan. No hospital care, no media and no police I would say pride would be a tough sell. I am humble, remembering my gifts are from God. Greed is absent; though I may feel poor in material things, my wealth lies in faith and love. Lust has been replaced with calm, selfless love—I live celibate, free from sexual desire, finding it easy. Wrath is far from me; I love all people, even those who attacked me and tried to murder me and worked to destroy my life and connections to God. Seeing their actions as deep in to Satan’s deceptions, lies and his seven deadly sins, as is said the wage of sin is death. Sloth is not my way—I dedicate my days to serving God and others, guided by the Holy Spirit to express truth, heal, and lead others to Jesus and the Love of God.

This article is for everyone trapped in sin, showing you that freedom is possible. Sin is not just in what we do but in what we fail to do—like staying silent when others stray. My mission is to help all find the path of truth, love, and Jesus, forgiving even those who harm us, as I have learned to forgive. Below, I share insights on sin, rooted in my journey and found biblical wisdom, to guide and help all or even just one in reflecting on their own lives sins and finding redemption.

Romans 6
Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ

1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, a that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Slaves to Righteousness

15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in b Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sin

Sin is anything that separates us from God’s perfect will—whether actions we commit or good deeds we neglect. The Bible calls it “missing the mark” (Romans 3:23) or lawlessness (1 John 3:4). It’s not just personal; the whole world is touched by sin, as I’ve seen in the attacks I’ve faced and the brokenness around us. Yet, God offers forgiveness and a way out through Jesus’ sacrifice (Romans 6:14). Sins are often categorized as:

  • Sins of Commission: Doing what God forbids, like lying or harming others.

  • Sins of Omission: Failing to do what God commands, like not helping those in need or staying silent when truth must be spoken.

The “seven deadly sins”—pride, envy, gluttony, greed, lust, wrath, and sloth—are root tendencies that lead to further wrongdoing. They’re not just acts but heart conditions that pull us from God. Below, I explore each, offering ways to recognize and overcome them, so you too can live free.

The Seven Deadly Sins and the Path to Freedom

Sin

What It Looks Like

How to Overcome It

Pride

Thinking too highly of oneself, forgetting God’s role. It’s boasting or refusing to admit fault.

Embrace humility. See your talents as God’s gifts. Serve others selflessly.

Envy

Resenting others’ success or blessings, wanting them for yourself.

Practice gratitude. Celebrate others’ joys, trusting God’s provision for you.

Gluttony

Overindulging in food, drink, or pleasures beyond need.

Choose moderation. Focus on spiritual nourishment through prayer and Scripture.

Greed

Chasing wealth or things at the expense of faith and love.

Find true wealth in God. Give generously, as Jesus taught (Luke 6:38).

Lust

Seeking sexual pleasure outside God’s design, objectifying others.

Cultivate pure, selfless love. Redirect desires to honor God and others.

Wrath

Letting anger or hatred control you, seeking harm or revenge.

Forgive as Christ did (Matthew 5:44). Love even your enemies, seeing them as deceived by evil.

Sloth

Being lazy in spiritual or practical duties, ignoring God’s call.

Stay diligent. Actively serve God and others, guided by the Holy Spirit.

Your Journey to Freedom

Everyone can break free from sin, as I have through God’s grace. Reflect on your life: What sins have held you back? List them honestly, pray for forgiveness (1 John 1:9), and replace them with virtues. I am not alone in tis way many have had these transitions and my journey just another—from alcohol to freedom, lust to love, anger to forgiveness—shows it’s possible. You don’t need to stay trapped. Turn to Jesus, let the Holy Spirit guide you, and love all, even those who hurt you. This world may be steeped in sin, but through truth, love, and faith, we can rise above and lead others to redemption.
